Paragraph Writing

This course aims to help beginner students organize their logical ideas through the practice of writing skill. By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to 

  1. Identify components of a paragraph, such as topic and supporting sentences; 
  2. Recognize types of paragraph, such as narrative, descriptive, argumentative, and so on; 
  3. Analyze how sentences are developed into paragraphs and linked coherently and cohesively; 
  4. Apply thinking processes when creating paragraphs. 
  5. Create paragraphs containing topic sentence, supporting sentences and a concluding sentence. 
This course is largely demanding as students are required to do weekly writing tasks/ assignments and journal writing posted in the chatroom.  Scheduled weekly meetings will be posted in BigBlueButton conference room. To motivate students to work independently, a core book entitled "Paragraph Writing" written by Dorothy E Zemach and Carlos Islam is attached for students' reference.
